What an amazing start to the year we have had and it is such a joy to see the Seahorse, Dolphin and Sealion children working out on the new deck.  This project has been a long time coming with Candice, our previous Dolphin’s teacher, suggesting this modification eight years ago. The Starfish children are also enjoying the deck around the side of their classroom along with the veranda which finally sheds delightful shade on their classroom windows. It was lovely to see Renata, our previous Starfish teacher, this week and the pride she showed seeing this building plan come to fruition.  Out in our Children’s House Secret Garden we were delighted to have our beautiful new seat installed to allow a quiet space for the children to sit under the Tipuana‘s and watch the going’s on with the scooters and cubby house play. Our eight year old children in Lower Primary and also our Upper Primary students are also enjoying the new ukuleles and guitars that are beautifully hung on the new storage racks in our Primary School music room.

In the Adolescent Program the addition of our newest advisory in Middle School the Hammerheads, has seen us take on a new classroom space on the ground floor of the university and the feedback from students and staff alike is that this is a great breakout space to conduct small class groups.  All of this development shows the fabulous position our beautiful school is in with the continual growth of families wanting to join us.  And why not, when you see the children walk so eagerly into their classrooms each day keen to start their learning and to be in a beautiful environment with their friends and teachers.

Did you know this is our 35th anniversary for Rockingham Montessori School and as such we are going to celebrate this milestone with a School Ball for our parents and friends?  Tickets will shortly be on sale through the reception and more information will follow however please book a date in your diary for the evening of Friday 13 November. Our Community Spirit would love your support and ideas for this unforgettable milestone event.

This semester we will be working with the City of Rockingham in the Adopt a Beach program.  This along with our environmental focus across the school will form a key part of the curriculum programs for the children.  We are reintroducing the Waste Wise Program across all classes and we are encouraging families to go litter free.  Please support your child with this initiative by ensuring their lunch and snacks are packaging free.

It was with great excitement that sixty of our Middle School students headed to Busselton for their expedition this week.  The students will be involved in a range of activities that will really challenge them physically, mentally, emotionally and socially whilst having lots of fun and enable them to make new friendships with our new students who have transitioned into the Adolescent Program.

I would like to thank all of our teaching staff for presenting Parent Education over this week and next in their classes/advisory groups.  Please ensure that if you have any questions that you email, See Saw or catch the teacher at the end of the day to clarify matters.
