It is with a sad heart that we say farewell to two of our staff members.  Debbie Bird has been our amazing receptionist and administration officer in the Adolescent Program (AP).  Deb has been a valuable member of the AP team where she has had a friendly smiling face each day for every student, parent and staff member.  Deb has been integral in the growth of our AP due to her ‘can do’ approach and we thank her for the hard work that she has tirelessly given over the past five years.  We wish you well in your new role Deb.  We also say goodbye to Sarah Clegg who has been our arts teacher across both the AP and the Primary School for the past two years and prior to this Sarah was often in the school providing relief as well as being a mother to two of our previous students.  Thank you Sarah for your work across all areas of the arts and particularly for your amazing efforts in our end of term / year performances.  For our Primary School art classes this term Simmi will offer pottery and in term three Jade will be offering dance to enable coverage of the range of arts areas.

I am delighted to announce to our School community that the School Readiness Program will recommence at the beginning of term 3.  Our waitlist for the school is increasing rapidly and as a result, Penny Schwegmann will run this program on a Thursday and Friday at the Ar Rukun Mosque in our existing Infant Toddler Program space.  The School Readiness Program will run from 8.30am – 11.30am and seven three year old children who are waiting for a place in our Children’s House Programs will be offered a place to attend for the two mornings per week.  Each week one parent will be rostered on to support Penny with this small group who will be exposed to materials that they will find in the Children’s House prepared environment.

We had wonderful weather for our Walk to School Day and we would like to thank the City of Rockingham for providing the yummy breakfast.  Thank you also to our fantastic administration staff who prepared and cleaned up on the day.  Given this event is growing rapidly in students participating I am requesting the help of parents for road crossing duties next year.  Please email reception@rms.wa.edu.au if you would like to help out.

Our Upper Primary representatives on the City of Rockingham Junior Council for 2019 are Shanita Knol and Ethan Izzard.  We congratulate these young ambassadors from our school and acknowledge the positive feedback on their enthusiasm and engagement in this program, provided by the Youth Officers at the council.

We also thank the eight fathers who attended the recent Upper Primary camp at Fairbridge.  I have been advised that although these men suffered late nights, they were a very supportive and fun crew to have on board.

Thank you to Emma Knight Izzard and helpers who organised and ran the Scholastic Bookfair.  This has certainly boosted the Community Spirit budget and I am sure Paula and her helpers will be grateful of your fundraising efforts for the upcoming Woodstock Open Mic Night on the 21 June from 5pm – 8pm.  We would love to see all families on this night and please remember that families’ not just students are welcome to perform on the night.
