We have had a wonderful start to our Bertram Infant Toddler Playgroup. We have welcomed several new families, and the children have taken to our Montessori principles beautifully. We have also been joined by  some of our existing families from Rockingham who have provided valuable examples of the Montessori principles in action to our new families. This lovely mix has created the community feel to our program, and has given the children experiences they will encounter when they join the Children’s House in the future. We could not have asked for a better start to our new program and location.

The children have enjoyed exploring the new venue, and the sunshine allowing us to water the plants and play in the sandpit. They have also enjoyed working with the materials from the shelves, gaining skills in sorting, classifying, and the varied practical life and art activities. Snack preparation has become a favourite activity, our children practicing their fruit cutting to provide snack for the playgroup community. They are practicing following through the cycle of work and returning their trays back to the shelf, every week is seeing more and more success with this.

Another exciting addition to our Bertram Playgroup is our new Playgroup Leader. I would love to offer a warm welcome to Nurjana, a parent from our school, who comes to us with a wealth of Montessori experience. She has transitioned into the role seamlessly, and I can see the children gaining so many beautiful experiences under her gentle guidance.
